Eminem is likely this week to break a prestigious record, that of ‘Artist with the most straight number one albums’ on the coveted Hot 200 Albums of the week, with his latest surprise album ‘Music to be murdered by’. If MTBMB, which happens to be Slim Shady’s 11th studio album, debuts at number one this week, it will become his 10th straight number one album, and judging from social media craze and several online reviews, he is almost poised to achieve that feat. We will certainly know by Thursday January 23, 2020.

Currently, Eminem shares the same record of artist with the most straight number ones on the Hot 200 with fellow hip hop mega star Kanye West, who tallied the record in 2019 with the release of the ‘Jesus is King’ album.

MTBMB was released in the wee hours of Friday January 17, 2020 (United States time), and is a follow up to yet another successful surprise album of his, Kamikaze, released in 2018. Eminem also debuted the single ‘Darkness’ as the first single from the album.

HITS Daily Double projects that MTBMB will sell between 300 000 and 325 000 album-equivalent units in its first week to open at number one in the Hot 200. This will make Eminem the first artist in the history of the United States to achieve 10 consecutive number one releases.
